"I think the best role models for women are people who are fruitfully and confidently themselves, who bring light into the world." —Meryl Streep
On March 8th, we and the world celebrated International Women’s day. At the Instructure Chicago office we hosted our QA Meetup, where Robin Kuss presented.
Robin has many years of experience in software design, development, test, and support that began at Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies. Now she's living the dream at Instructure - Chicago as a Software Engineer in Test.
The meetup was focussed on Watir - a web application testing in Ruby - and an open source Ruby gem that provides web page test automation functionality in the Ruby programming language. There were many code examples and comparison to other similar tools such as Capybara and native Selenium APIs.
The meetup audience included women and men from diverse backgrounds in various capacities. The audience was excited to learn from the presentation , and we saw some great discussions happening. Additionally, they were highly impressed with our celebration of International Women’s Day and were very happy to know about Instructure’s work philosophy.
The event was a symbol of the nurturing culture at Instructure which we all love being a part of. Instructure takes pride in building software that makes people smarter. Our Leadership takes great care to encourage us all to feel empowered to work and to grow. We celebrate diversity and inclusion, not just with regards to our people of color, gender, ethnicity and personality uniqueness, but also in consideration of our cultural and intellectual enrichment.
